Terms of Use

    Future Fleets is a community of game players of varying ages and backgrounds. You are here as a guest and should always act accordingly, keeping in mind that other players are here to have fun and should be respected at all times. To that end, we have provided the following rules for use of our site which you must accept in order to register an account or use any services we provide. These rules are subject to change, and it is your responsibility to keep apprised of such changes.


1. Future Fleets is a Game, Not a Business

    The Future Fleets website was created and is maintained as a resource for fans of Star Trek, an intellectual property owned by CBS Studios. The site does not make any money whatsoever, and, should any money ever be derived from this site, it will not be used for any purpose other than maintaining this website and its services. We agree to never charge our users for use of our site, but reserve the right to utilize limited advertising in order to pay for site hosting, should the price ever become burdensome.

    Further, as a guest on our site, you agree that you do not own your account, nor do you own any items, rewards, locations, currencies, services, or any other object, entity, or idea used on this site as part of the game or services we provide. You agree not to try to buy and/or sell any aspect of this site whatsoever, including the currencies, simulations, and various "items" and "components" used in-game. We will delete the accounts of any users found to violate these or any other rules on our site, and we reserve the right to pursue legal action in the event it is deemed absolutely necessary.


2. Using Future Fleets Images or Content

    The use of any images or content from our site without our express consent is strictly prohibited.


3. Site Content

    --Any information submitted to the site or its administrators by the site's users for display or storage can be used on this site however the site's administrators see fit. That includes mission posts, storylines, personal logs, ideas, designs, templates, schematics, deck listings, and all related concepts. We agree to use them fairly and only in the context of this site. You must agree to abide by all laws governing said content in your jurisdiction, and you must agree not to infringe upon the intellectual properties of others while using this site.

    --We acknowledge that the simulations on our site were created by their respective owners prior to their registration here or as part of it, and as such, we agree to respect their rights of ownership insofar as they to not infringe upon the rights of other users, or upon the rules of this site. Any simulations created by Future Fleets remain the property of Future Fleets unless an agreement is reached to transfer ownership to a particular user or group of users solely within the context of this site.

    --Any other content submitted to this site or its administrators, especially in the context of improving the site or adding functionality to it, becomes the property of this site and can be used by Future Fleets and its administrators freely from that point on within the context of running and/or improving this site and progressing any related storylines.

    --We acknowledge the CBS Studios owns the rights to Star Trek and all related names, logos, images, insignia, and the like, and we further acknowledge that any claims we or our users have to ownership of site content is contingent upon that premise first and foremost. We agree to respect and protect the integrity of this and all intellectual properties to the best of our ability for as long as this site exists.

    --In order to use this site, users must agree not to post or send anything illegal, offensive, profane, obscene, or sexual in nature while on this site. While we acknowledge that individual simulation owners have the right to allow such material on their own websites, it is not the policy of the Future Fleets staff to allow it here. Further, users must agree to refrain from sending or posting messages with content that in inappropriate to a family game setting, including threats, insults, and slander.

    --The Future Fleets staff agrees not to discriminate against any users solely on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, social status, or politicial affiliation. However, Future Fleets reserves the right to deny service to any individual or group if it feels, in its sole discretion, that their use of the site could cause harm to the site or its users in any way.

    --Users must acknowledge that the game portion of the site is intended to provide a role-playing environment based on the Star Trek universe. By registering for the game portion of the site, users must agree to behave in a manner consistent with established protocols, laws, and canon in-universe whenever possible without violating the rules of this agreement.

    --Users must agree to be held responsible for any damage incurred by the site or its users as a result of their negligence, violation of the rules, or misuse of the site.

    --Users must acknowledge that they are at least 13 (thirteen) years of age before registering with this site or using any of its services, and must have permission from their parent or guardian before using this site or any of its services if under the age of 18 (eighteen) or older if applicable under local law.


4. Site Improvements and Glitches

    By using this site, you acknowledge that this site is and always will be a work-in-progress. If, in the event of a glitch, disaster, mistake, or other similar problem, any site content or information is irreparably damaged, altered, or destroyed, you will not hold the site accountable. Further, in the event any glitches, bugs, or other methods of altering the site, the game, or the database arise, you agree to notify the Future Fleets staff immediately and refrain from exploiting them yourself or advertising them to others.


5. Off-Site Links

    Although the Future Fleets staff will make every effort to verify that off-site links on this site are valid and prevent no threat to our users, we cannot guarantee their content or security. Therefore, anyone who uses our site or its services must agree that they alone are responsible for the links and content they post, and for the links they choose to follow. If, at any time, a link is determined to be unsafe, users are expected to report it to a Fleet administrator immediately so that it may be removed and, if necessary, the offending party can be disciplined.


6. Miscellaneous

    By using this site, you agree to abide by these and all future rules posted here. You agree to use this site in a manner consistent with its purpose and design, and you agree not to exploit this site, its users, or its staff in any way. You agree not to take legal action against Future Fleets, its owners, or its staff as a result of their involvement in or work on this site. You agree not to hold any of the site's users, staff, or owners responsible for matters beyond their reasonable control. Finally, you agree that, in the event of a conflict of any kind, you will do everything in your power to settle the matter respectfully and peacefully.


7. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

    THIS SITE AND ALL MATERIALS CONTAINED ON IT ARE DISTRIBUTED AND TRANSMITTED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, FUTURE FLEETS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. FUTURE FLEETS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE FUNCTIONS CONTAINED IN THE SITE OR MATERIALS WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THIS SITE OR THE SERVERS THAT MAKES IT AVAILABLE ARE FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
