Privacy Policy
First Implemented: May 29th, 2010; Last Updated: January 13th, 2013

We are committed to providing a safe, enjoyable online experience for all of our users. To that end, we will do our best to ensure the protection of any personal information collected on our site.

1. The Information We Collect

The hosting company of this website collects generic information from users whenever they visit this site, including, but not limited to: country of origin, IP address, computer operating system, web browser. We do not associate this information with any specific user.

In order to register with this site, a user must self-identify as being at least 13 (thirteen) years of age and provide a name or alias, a unique username, and a valid e-mail address. Once a user registers and activates their account, we require them to create their own unique password, which we protect by encrypting it before it is stored on our site. Names and e-mail addresses are never sold or given to third-parties for any reason whatsoever, and they are only used to identify the user and to communicate with htem regarding their account or membership. Site administrators will never ask a user for their password or any other forms of personal identification, and anyone attempting to solicit such information from a user should be reported to us immediately.

Additionally, we track IP addresses of any logged in users for security purposes. This allows us to block the IP address of any users who violate our terms of service.

Finally, we allow users to post information regarding their characters, simulations, and fleets in our databases, in addition to various in-game communication channels. This information is displayed on the site where appropriate (usually, only members can see it), and anyone who chooses to post or communicate on our site must be aware that it will be stored and, in the case of profiles and other posts, visible to other members of the site.

2. How This Information is Used

No personal information is ever shared with a third-party. We only use e-mail addresses to contact a user regarding their account or, when requested, to inform them of site updates or important announcements. Information collected by our hosting company is used to determine who (in general) is visiting the site and how, that way we can better tailor our content to suit their needs. We may disclose available information or content pertaining to our users in the event that it is requested by government authorities conducting an investigation, or when necessary to protect the site, its staff, or its users from potential threats, both cyber and in the real world. Finally, if Future Fleets ever changes owners or servers, the information we collect may be transferred to the acquiring entity.

3. Cookies

The Future Fleets site uses a technology called "cookies" which are small text files placed on a user's computer to store their username and preferences. Our host also uses the technology to determine whether or not a visitor is "unique" when they visit us, that way the statistics they provide us with are as accurate as possible.

Users can adjust their security settings to reject cookies, however this may make it difficult, if not impossible, to use any member features.

4. Security

The creators and staff of Future Fleets have put electronic measures in place in an attempt to safeguard the security of our users' information. This includes various encryptions and security checks to ensure that information stored on our servers, as well as access to the site itself, are as secure as possible.

We also work to protect our users from links to dangerous third-party sites. However, because of the nature of our site, we cannot guarantee the security of any site which is linked to on our own, and expect users to have their own safeguards in place to protect them from viruses, malware, phishing schemes, adware, trojans, and any other threats they may encounter on third-party sites. In the event that any malicious coding is added to the Future Fleets site, we will work to remove the coding as quickly as possible, warn our users and visitors of the dangers, and, if necessary, take the site offline until the matter has been resolved.

5. Concerning Children's Privacy

The Future Fleets site is off-limits to anyone under the age of 13 (thirteen) or older depending upon the laws governing a user's place of residence, and we request that users receive permission from a parent or guardian before using this site if under the age of 18 (eighteen) or older, again depending upon the laws governing their place of residence. It is our goal to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for our users, and to that end, we will work to the best of our abilities to prevent the misuse of our site in any way that might result in harm to a minor.

6. Contact Us

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this site or its policies, please contact us using the information on our Contact page.

7. For Parents

The Internet is an exciting but dangerous place for minors. While we will do our best to ensure their safety while visiting our site, we cannot be everywhere and monitor everything. To that end, we ask that you talk with your child about their involvement with this site and its users to ensure that they are not being harassed or exploited in any way. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have, and if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time.
